ACCO Engineered Systems Becomes Cypress Envirosystems' Gold Alliance Partner
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan 07, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:CY), and ACCO Engineered Systems, a leading mechanical design, construction and service contractor, today announced that ACCO and its fully owned subsidiary Sunbelt Controls have completed the training and certification to become a Gold alliance partner for the Cypress Envirosystems' Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat solution. Gold alliance status denotes that ACCO is fully certified to perform proposal, estimation, installation, commissioning, and service work to use the Cypress Envirosystems' Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat (WPT) solution to retrofit existing pneumatic HVAC controls.
"The Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat is an extremely innovative technology that enables existing buildings to upgrade from traditional pneumatic HVAC controls to the benefits of Direct Digital Control," said Michael Ridout, General Manager, ACCO Engineered Systems. "The low-cost, quick payback and non-disruptive solution is a very easy way for commercial building customers to enable energy savings, continuous commissioning, and demand response for existing buildings. This technology and the Automated Logic Controls management system that ACCO represents, complement each other very well in providing a superior energy-efficient solution. We are delighted to form this alliance with Cypress Envirosystems, which will help ACCO to better serve our customers."
"ACCO Engineered Systems has an unparalleled reputation and history for delivering practical, cost-effective solutions for customers' mechanical and control systems," said Bien Irace, VP of Business Development, Cypress Envirosystems. "ACCO's deep domain knowledge, customer relationships and service coverage is a wonderful complement to our technology, and we are honored to have them as a Gold alliance partner."
About the Cypress Envirosystems WPT
Cypress Envirosystems' patent pending WPT solution retrofits existing pneumatic thermostats to deliver direct digital control (DDC) functionality in minutes. Compared with a cost of $2,500 or more per zone for implementing DDC systems, the WPT costs 80% less, and it may be installed in under 20 minutes with minimal disruption of occupants. It enables remote temperature sensing and control of setpoints, programmable zone control and night setback, automatic self-calibration, BACnet integration with existing automation systems, and enables use with utility Demand Response programs. It uses the Open-ADR communications standard developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories.
